Eli Lilly and Archaeology
September 12, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
While Eli Lilly was most noted for his pharmaceutical company, few know that he also had a keen interest in archaeology, specifically in the state of Indiana. Rachel Sharkey, from the Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology, will talk about Mr. Lilly’s involvement in archaeology, from his work at Angel Mounds, his role in establishing the Glenn A. Black Laboratory of Archaeology at Indiana University, and how he perpetuated archaeological research in Indiana. September is Archaeology Month in Indiana.
